Shoot It Independent!, is a movement inspired by writers, directors, producers, and cinematographers of color in the entertainment industry.   Our goal is to guide and assist the independent filmmaker in making their dream a reality.  Bringing forth a story from script to screen by providing a grant and the essential materials needed to produce the project.  Awards given by the production fund provide training, guidance, industry consultation and preparation to become a stronger filmmaker.

The Independent community is much larger than it was 10 years ago and is continuing to grow rapidly.  As new filmmakers enter the market, the demand for more outlets to produce their projects grows.  It is increasingly difficult to obtain the financial assistance needed to effectively produce projects without industry knowledge and networking opportunities.  Therefore movements within the independent community began to flourish providing workshops, networking, training, and screening opportunities for filmmakers who don’t have the backing of a major studio.  Shoot It Independent gladly jumped on the bandwagon and begin an event which allows an outstanding up and coming filmmaker the opportunity to bring his/her project from script to screen by providing funding of $5,000 and industry consultation.
